Expecting Rain

I feel the tapping on my shoulder, but your hands are getting colder,
Can you talk like me, shoot like Belle Star?
I remember summer nights, sitting near your back porch light,
And the shadows were the chords on my guitar.
Coming off of my poetry pages, and as I'm standing on the stages,
I look right past you, and I just stare.
Cause I couldn't get bear to say, what I thought of yesterday,
And I die and you just sit there.

There's a man in the road, there's a woman enraged,
I would have said something sooner but I was stuck inside a cage,
With shackles on my feet and my hands in chains,
I'm Expecting Rain.

I would tell you what I'm feeling, but it's way too revealing,
And plus I can't find the right words to say.
I knew something was wrong, like I wasn't were I belonged,
Something about you said trust me anyway.
My leg is moving and I can't stand still, I don't know if I will,
Too soon forget.
The scene in the crowd, you were talking but the music was too loud,
And you looked a little different when we met.

Brillant light reflecting, reflecting on the land,
It's the same thing I told you, I'll never understand,
I thought I was so cool and urbane,
I'm Expecting Rain.

I found myself waking up, with tears in my coffee cup,
And a picture of you plastered right in front of me.
We you told me I had died, I couldn't reply,
And you made it into such a mystery.
It felt like a trial, I was guilty all the while,
Ah, you know you did it all right.
But I can make it a bit more, with my face to the floor,
Say one more stupid thing, then I'll leave for tonight.

Cause everything is different now that the past is gone,
Every single night I stay up past the dawn,
I think of you, I think of you in vain,
I'm Expecting Rain.

Seems like something's coming, but nothing ever does,
I kinda thought seeing you would be more difficult than it was,
I nothing to lose, do I have anything to gain,
I'm Expecting Rain.
