Gone to See the King Play II

Brian McCaskill

Something smells funny about tonight
Something looks funny, too
Tonight, there isn’t any windows to looks at
and there’s no masks to wear
except the one that looks you

So we don’t do anything, just look
Cause I’ve gone to see the king play
(You, king, you)
The king is younger now
The king looks better now
I think the king’s a girl
or girls

For one second, I lost my concentration
And I forgot why I was there
And I couldn’t look at the king play
So I turned my head, to look away
and then I remember why I saw the king play in the first place

So, I suppose nothing can be saved
So I’m wide awake this time
But shooting stars eventually fall
and just cause fires that are put out
Nothing can be saved
At least not when you see the king play.
